The DA 7200 was designed in cooperation with customers with the goal to create the most easily operated NIR instrument on the market. Not just because this makes work easier for operators, but because it matters for performance.
The easier an analysis method is, the fewer mistakes you make, and the better your accuracy will be.
Four easy steps:

| Pour the sample into the dish. |
Place the dish under the light beam. |
Select product from the list on the touch-screen. |
Press "Analyze", and you will have the results in 6 seconds. |
Empty the dish and you are ready for the next sample. No cleaning is necessary.
Pour-and-place sample handling
As operator errors and sample presentation constitute a large part of the total analytical error we have put considerable effort into minimizing these. All the operator needs to do is to pour the sample into an open dish, strike off excess sample and place the dish in the instrument. With so few and easy steps, there's not much that can go wrong.
Touch-screen operation
In order to make instrument handling easy, but still flexible, we decided to implement a touch-screen as main user interface. For routine analysis the user only needs to press two large keys.
Simplicity software
The software that is used for running the DA 7200 is called Simplicity. It lives up to its name - easy to use for instrument operators or technicians. It has been designed with the help from Perten Instruments' customers worldwide.
The operator simply selects a product name, enters a sample ID, and presses the "Analyze" key. A barcode reader simplifies sample ID entry and ensures data accuracy.
An outlier detection algorithm ensures the analyzed sample is similar to the spectral data on which the calibration was generated.
Connectivity and data transfer
Most businesses handle their analytical data digitally these days, and analysis results need to be transfered from the analyzer to a Lab Information Management System (LIMS) or for example Least Cost Formulation software. The DA 7200 is capable of automatically sending analysis results to other applications, in formats such as xml or csv. Data can also be extracted periodically and saved in a file on a network server or a USB memory stick.
Using the optional SimPlus software, the DA 7200 can also import product settings from Least Cost Formulation software, and automatically update its list of products when new formulations have been calculated.
Calibration software
For customers who wish to develop their own calibrations, Perten Instruments offer the Unscrambler® chemometric software from Camo, and the DA 7200 also supports calibration files from the Grams chemometrics software from Thermo.
For most applications though, standard calibrations are available from Perten Instruments, and for customers with specific needs we also offer custom calibration development.
